Be a Man and Just Talk About Your Feelings

"Take care of your bodies, take care of your chicken and take care of your mentals," said Marshawn Lynch in a post-game press conference for the Seattle Seahawks.

Lynch's advice to the younger players in the NFL is exactly our goal on this blog.

We all know that we need to exercise hard to care of our bodies and "take care of our chicken" by supplying ourselves with nutritious food. But today, we will focus on the "mentals" aspect of his statement.

It is easy as a wellness blog to focus on exercise and diet, but there is another aspect that often gets lost, especially in the men's health world.

That is the conversation about mental health.

You can be the healthiest person in the world on paper by eating right and exercising every day. But until you take control of your emotions, you will not feel healthy

Just being aware of your mental health will help you understand how to deal with uncomfortable situations and explain why you feel the way you do.

The next step is finding someone you are comfortable with, or, if you think it would benefit you, a therapist, and discussing how you feel and letting yourself process your emotions.

And don't think that since you don't have any diagnosis or you aren't sure if you have any mental illnesses that you shouldn't be mindful of your mental health.

Everyone has their own experience and battles with their mental health.

Everyone has a mind; therefore everyone has mental health. As men, we can no longer ignore mental issues as if they aren't as important as physical ones.
