Nick, why did you make this website?

Well I'm glad you asked!

Oh, you didn't? That's alright, I'll tell you anyway.

Since I found my love for writing and chose to major in journalism at the University of Northern Colorado, creating a blog is something I have wanted to do.

I think it will help enforce a more normal writing schedule for me.

My dad told me that if I was going to be a writer then I should write every day. I think about that a lot but I definitely don't write every day.

Maybe a blog is a way to build up to it, but we'll start with 1-2 posts a week.

Also, blogs are an opportunity to write with more freedom, something that doesn't always happen in school.

Sometimes writing assignments feel more like assignments than writing. That makes it hard to just write for fun.

But with that freedom, I want to talk about men's fitness.

And I know what you're thinking.

"Nick, there are a million men's health and fitness blogs on the internet, how is yours going to be any different?"

That's where I would tell you that most of the men's health and fitness blogs on the internet are the same.

They give you useless information and are sponsored by fitness companies that usually have some sort of "life-changing product" that everyone knows doesn't work.

Unfortunately, I don't get any sponsor money for this blog. But that could be good for you because that means I'm just going to tell you what works for me and what doesn't.

It'll be great! We'll be in this together.

Also, I'm not going to tell you that, "You just gotta lift and get those gains, bro."

Living in Colorado, I plan to take advantage of the vast array of trails, parks and other outdoor areas for this journey.

While this is my first blog, I have had a couple years of journalistic writing experience and have a good grasp on my abilities as a writer.

Something I'm strong at as a writer is coming up with and executing my ideas in the grand scheme. But on the other hand, the small details are usually the things that I struggle with and sometimes take away from my piece.

I'm excited to get started, but I'm also a little nervous that my weaknesses will show as I attempt blogging for the first time.

With this blog, I hope to not only learn more about myself as a writer, but also more about my health as well.

While my interest has been peaked with taking better care of myself, this blog is a way for me to explore that even further. I don't know everything yet, but I think that plays to my advantage here. This blog can be a tool for discovery for not only me, but whoever reads it as well.

  1. Nick, I can absolutely relate when it comes to structured writing. I enjoy writing but sometimes when it’s assigned and you have to stick to a certain format it can feel more tedious than enjoyable, so like you, I look forward to writing and seeing how much more I can develop this skill without constraints.

    1. Yes! It will be a great opportunity to be able to write for ourselves and really get the enjoyment of that freedom. It will also be great to discover more about ourselves as writers and our styles. Thanks for the comments!

  2. Hello Nick. This website's theme and layout is simple & looks amazing. I enjoy the slight comedy in your writing because it keeps the post light and more fun to read. Fitness is a good topic, especially with everything going on, it helps people with their stress and anxiety on top of their health. I completely relate to you about not being good at the small details, because I too always try and look at my writing in a big picture. I enjoy reading your blog & look forward to more.

  3. Hi Kelsey! I have definitely also found a lot of relief staying active these last couples months too! I used to hate running but like you said, it is a great way to clear my mind and calm some anxiety I have. Thanks for your comments!
